Eagles Participate in Liberty Twilight

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's track and field team competed in the Liberty Twilight meet at Liberty University on Wednesday.

Junior Amber Celen started the day's events by placing fourth in the 100 meter dash. Celen finished the event in 11.80 seconds. In a very close long jump competition, Celen won by 1 centimeter with a jump of 5.81m/19'0.75".

Mid-distance runner Maryellen Hauver finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:12.52. Emily Young completed the race in a time of 2:27.82.

Indoor track ODAC Rookie of the Year Emily Valle finished sixth with a time of 1:04.41 in the 400 meter hurdles. Valle took home a third-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay along with Tye Meador, Courtney Adams, and Celen.

Competing in the high jump, freshman Kathryn McElroy finished with a jump of 1.48m/4'10.25". McElroy also finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.83m/35'6.5". In pole vaulting competition, Adams vaulted to a height of 3.06m/10'0.5".

Calista Ariel (4:59.98) and Scarlett Bavin (5:16.49) each competed in the 1500-meter run.

The Eagles will return to the track on Sunday May 14 in the Aggie Last Chance meet, which will take place at North Carolinia A&T in Greensboro, N.C. The meet starts at 9 a.m.
