NEW ORLEANS - The Bridgewater College women's track & field team is ranked No. 8 in the Division III Indoor Track & Field preseason poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Eagles participated in one meet prior to the holiday break, competing at the Roanoke College Open. The Eagles return to the track on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Franklin & Marshall College.
Bridgewater is led by senior Amber Celen. The Eagles standout claimed two national titles at the 2017 NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championships and earned All-American honors in a third event. Celen won national titles in the 60 meters and 200 meters. She won the 60 with a time of 7.54 seconds, a new ODAC record. She added the 200 title by setting a new NCAA record with a time of 24.15 seconds. Celen also placed sixth in the long jump at the 2017 meet.
After just one meet this season, Celen ranks second in the nation in the long jump with a best effort of 18 feet, 9 inches. Her time of 7.83 seconds in the 60 meters ranks No. 3.
