Eagles Split Matches At Catholic Tournament

WASHINGTON D.C. - The Bridgewater volleyball team split its matches Friday at Catholic, losing to Frostburg State before defeating Finlandia.

The Eagles rolled to a 25-13 win in the first game against Frostburg, but were unable to maintain the momentum as the Bobcats won the next three games 25-19, 25-21, 25-17.

Katie Baker (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg) led the Eagles at the net with 13 kills and three blocks. Cadie Castle (Mineral, Va./Louisa) added eight kills and three aces while Mara Hogan (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) finished with eight kills and 16 digs. Casey O'Leary (Quinton, Va./New Kent) contributed 15 digs and Lindsay Kallam (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) led the team in assists with 33.

The Eagles dominated Finlandia 25-12, 25-9, 25-17. Castle led the BC attack with six kills and Megann Grimes (Midland, Va./Liberty) added six kills and a pair of blocks. Cat Snead (Crewe, Va./Nottoway) added five kills and a block and Lauren Johnson (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) finished with 20 assists and 10 digs.

The Eagles, now 5-1, will finish play in the tournament on Saturday with matches against Catholic and Eastern Mennonite.
