Volleyball Picked Fifth In ODAC Annual Coaches Preseason Poll

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College volleyball team, under the direction of second year head coach Erin Albert, was selected as the fifth-ranked team in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason poll voted on by the coaches.

After the 2011 season, the Eagles finished fourth with a record of 15-16. Libero Casey O'Leary, middle hitter Cadie Castle, outside hitter Katie Long, and outside hitter Mara Hogan are all key returners on the team. Joining them are two strong setters - senior Kylie Graham and junior Lindsay Kallam. The new freshman class, along with the other returning players are all going to contribute to the success of the volleyball season.

Randolph-Macon College, the 2011 ODAC Champions, received eight first place votes which landed the Yellow Jackets in the top poll position with 118 points. The Washington and Lee Generals are not far behind in the number two slot with 113 points. Lynchburg earned 101 points, while Virginia Wesleyan picked up 86 points, and Bridgewater's 83 points round out the top five.

The Eagles start off their season Friday at the Captains Classic in Newport News, Va. at Christopher Newport University. The first match starts at 2 p.m.
