Eagles Set for Semifinal Match at Randolph-Macon Saturday

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater volleyball team will play in its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) semifinal match since 2009 on Saturday. The Eagles travel to Randolph-Macon College to take on Washington and Lee at 11 a.m.

Both semifinal matches will be played on the campus of Randolph-Macon on Saturday morning. The Lynchburg Hornets take on the host Yellow Jackets in match five of the tournament.  The winners of both semifinal matches will battle in the championship match at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Eagles defeated Emory and Henry on Wednesday night during the quarterfinal match, advancing the team's overall record to 18-14.

The Generals go into the semifinal match with an overall record of 24-9 and finished the regular season with a 10-1 record in ODAC play. 

Two short weeks ago, the Eagles hosted Washington and Lee for the last home match of the season and fell 3-1 to the Generals.

Junior Katie Long added 17 more kills on Wednesday night bringing her season total to 323 kills. Sophomore Megann Grimes follows Long with 269 total kills on the season.

Senior Casey O'Leary tops the leaderboard in the ODAC in digs on the season with 532. Junior setter Lindsay Kallam continues to lead the Eagles with 747 assists.

Washington and Lee outside hitter M.A. Boles leads the Generals and is currently ranked first in the ODAC in kills with 420. She also leads the Generals in digs with 322. Anna Lausberg is right behind Boles with 304 total kills.

"I am going into the weekend confident. I am excited and happy for the girls to be able to get to this point in the season," said Bridgewater head coach Erin Albert. "No one else saw Bridgewater as a threat this season but I get to see every day how ready they are."
