Volleyball Earns Pair of Wins at Maroon Classic

The Bridewater College volleyball team earned a pair of wins Friday at the Roanoke College Maroon Classic Tournament in Roanoke, Va. The Eagles are now 6-0 to start their season. 

Match One: Bridgewater 3, Ferrum 1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23)

Bridgewater opened with a strong first set to pace them to a victory. Victoria Wilson dished out 38 assists to go along with six kills to lead the Eagles. Allison Clark set the tone offensively with a team-high 14 kills. Macon Frey was stellar on the defensive end with 21 digs. Freshman Jyailah Friendly also had a big day defensively, adding 13 digs against Ferrum. Jenna Hamra also contributed 11 assists and 11 digs. 

Match Two: Bridgewater 3, Methodist 0 (25-22, 25-9, 25-23) 

The Eagles controlled the second set against Methodist without any issue. Carleigh Studtmann chipped in 12 kills, a solo block, and two block assists. Rachel Gaston and Deja Booker led the team in kills with ten each. Hamra added 18 assists and Friendly had 12 digs.

Bridgewater is back in action tomorrow at the Maroon Classic as they take on Salem (9:00am) and Piedmont (11:00am).
