Volleyball Sweeps Again to Remain Undefeated

Roanoke, Va.- The Bridgewater College Volleyball team won two more games on Saturday in the Roanoke College Maroon Classic. The team is now 8-0 to start the season and is entering ODAC play without a loss.

Match One: Bridgewater 3, Salem 2 (25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-5)

The Eagles battled for a win in game one, edging Salem in five sets. Macon Frey led the way with 32 digs. Rachel Gaston had 15 kills, while Victoria Wilson pitched in 11 kills. Jenna Hamra added 18 assists with 19 digs and Taylor McNeely contributed 15 digs.

Match Two: Bridgewater 3, Piedmont 0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-16)

Carleigh Studtmann led the offensive attack with eight kills. Allison Clark chipped in seven kills and 14 digs. Jenna Hamra had 18 assists while Macon Frey added 15 digs.

Deja Booker was named to the Maroon Classic All-Tournament Team. She led the team over the weekend with 41 kills and also hit .378. Macon Frey was named Co-Most Outstanding Player after racking up 79 digs.

The Eagles host their home opener and begin the start of ODAC play on Tuesday, Sept. 12 against Virginia Wesleyan. The match is set to start at 7:00pm.
