SALEM, Va. - Molly Smith finished in eight-place Saturday afternoon to lead the Bridgewater College Eagles to a fifth-place team finish at the ODAC Women's Cross Country Championship Meet hosted by Roanoke College at Mowles Spring Park.

Smith completed the 6K course with a time of 25:15.78. Whitney Fitzgerald cracked the Top 20 with an 18th-place effort and Lauren Heishman finished 39th overall.

Samantha Hancock in 42nd place and Katie Notarangelo in 45th rounded out the scoring for the Eagles.

Lynchburg College won the meet with 29 points, followed by Washington and Lee with 41. Roanoke placed third with 75 points and Virginia Wesleyan placed fourth with 101 points. Bridgewater was fifth in the eight-team field with 135 points.

Lynchburg's Jennie Pernisi was the individual champion with a time of 24:06.91.
