Mills Earns All-Region Honors With Sixth Place Finish

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Bridgewater College sophomore Olivia Mills placed sixth Saturday at the NCAA South/Southeast Region meet hosted by Rhodes College.

Mills finished the 6K course with a time of 22:39 to finish sixth overall, just seven seconds behind ODAC champion Jennie Pernisi of Lynchburg College.

With the finish, Mills earned All-Region honors and a probable spot in the NCAA Division III Championship Meet. The field for the national meet will be set Sunday.

Mills' effort paced the Eagles to a ninth-place team finish in a field of 25 squads.

Molly Smith was the second BC runner to cross the finish line with a time of 23:31, good for 35th place overall.

Rounding out the five scorers for the Eagles were Katie Notarangelo in 49th place, Samantha Hancock in 59th and Stephanie Breen in 90th place overall.

ODAC champion Lynchburg placed fifth in the team standing while Washington and Lee finished eighth, just two points better than the Eagles.
