Women’s Cross Country Team Leads ODAC Preseason Poll

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 2011 Champions, the Bridgewater Eagles women's cross country team, was picked as the number one seed in the ODAC coaches' preseason polls.

Returning for the Eagles, senior, Olivia Mills placed first at the ODAC championship in 2011. Stephanie Breen and Whitney Fitzgerald are also top returning runners for the Eagles. The team placed first at the ODAC championship, qualified at the South/Southeast regional championship, and also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship during the 2011 season.

Washington & Lee University is right behind the Eagles with 72 points, the Generals placed first at the ODAC Championship in 2010. Virginia Wesleyan College is in the third seed position with 55 points, Lynchburg College has 53 points, and new comers to the ODAC, Shenandoah University, are not far behind with 50 points in the fifth place position.

The women's cross country team starts off their season on Friday, August 31, at the EMU Royals Invitational at Peak View Elementary School in Harrisonburg, Va.
