Women’s Cross Country Ranked Sixth in Regional Rankings


NEW ORLEANS – The Bridgewater women's cross country team moves up a spot from last week's poll to sixth place in the South/Southeast Regional rankings released on Tuesday afternoon by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Eagles traveled to Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News, Va. for the Christopher Newport University Invitational where the team placed fourth.

Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Runner of the Week Kaylee Kubisiak and the 2011 ODAC Runner of the Year Olivia Mills took first and second place for the Eagles with times of 22:27 and 22:35. Kubisiak and Mills's times at the meet are currently the top times in the ODAC.

Trinity (Texas) and Emory remain in the top two spots in the region. Christopher Newport slipped in front of Washington and Lee to take the third place spot from the Generals.

Eastern Mennonite University moved from sixth to fifth and Lynchburg College joins the rankings this week in ninth.

The next event for the women's cross country team is the ODAC Championship on October 27 at Peak View Elementary School at 11 a.m.
