Eagles Claim Second at CNU Invitational

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – In its final regular season race, the Bridgewater College women's cross country team collected 49 points to finish second in the non-Division I field at the CNU Invitational on Saturday at Lee Hall Mansion.

Christopher Newport was the team champion with 15 points, and Mary Baldwin placed third after carding 90 points. Jessica Lee, of CNU, claimed the individual title on a time of 23:10.

Bridgewater had its entire top five crack the top 20. First-year runner Magdalene Mann paced BC with a 10th place effort on a time of 24:16.

The next four Eagles crossed the finish line in succession as Erin Quinn (24:31) was 12th and Sarah Wright (24:40), Calista Ariel (24:40) and Maryellen Hauver (24:54) finished 13-14-15.

Scarlett Bavin (25:53) placed 22nd out of 41 athletes, while Emily Young (28:01) secured the 25th spot. Autumn Gill finished the 6k race in 31:09.

The Eagles will seek their fourth conference championship in six years at ODACs on Oct. 29 at the Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Va.
