Women's Cross Country Places Fifth at ODAC Championships

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's cross country team scored 130 points to finish fifth in an 11-team field at the ODAC Championships hosted by Washington and Lee at the Vista Links Golf Course on Saturday.

W&L repeated as conference champs behind 38 points, Roanoke was second with 67 points and Eastern Mennonite rounded the top three on 103 points.

Kerri Dalton, of Roanoke, claimed the individual title on a time of 22:39.1.

Freshman Magdalene Mann was just two seconds shy of cracking the all-conference team after leading the Eagles with a time of 24:22.4 for 15th overall. W&L's Katie Bearup narrowly beat out Mann on a time of 24:20.3

Senior Erin Quinn finished her final conference race 22nd behind a time of 24:59.8, and junior Maryellen Hauver recorded a time of 25.13.5 to place 27th.

Freshman Calista Ariel made up the 31st spot on a time of 25:36.9, and classmate Sarah Wright (25:56.7) completed the Eagles top five by coming in 35th.

Junior Scarlett Bavin (26:08.6) finished shortly after Wright to take 36th out of 93 athletes.

The Eagles will continue their postseason on Nov. 12 at the NCAA S/SE Regional Championships hosted by Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga.
