Women's Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The Bridgewater College women's cross country team earned honors and had two individuals recognized, as the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) announced its annual XC academic awards.

For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. The Eagles' team GPA was 3.35.

Overall, there were 388 teams honored by the USTFCCCA. Of those teams, 221 of them were women's programs and 167 of them were men's.

Sophomore Calista Ariel and junior Jenna Rea both earned Individual All-Academic status.

In order to qualify for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Ariel earned All-South/Southeast Region honors with a 29th place finish at the NCAA regional meet. Rea was BC's next-best finisher, in 52nd place.
