Colton Berrington was named the assistant coach for the Bridgewater Eagles men’s and women’s cross country teams.
Berrington graduated from Bridgewater College in May with a major in health and exercise science. He was a four year Eagle athlete and was captain for the 2011-2012 season.
While a student athlete at Bridgewater, Berrington also served as a student assistant where he helped with recruiting, travel arrangements, and meet management. During the 2011- 2012 season, Berrington also lead a program for academic achievement to assist the class of 2015 cross country athletes with the adjustment to college life.
“I am excited to have Colton join the cross country staff. It will be beneficial to me to have a Bridgewater graduate by my side. He has a student’s prospective on how things are run in the classrooms as well as relationships with professors that I do not have. Local recruiting will be easier since he is a Waynesboro native and knows the local area. Colton knows my coaching style already, which will make his transition easy. Our strengths will work well together and I am glad to have him on board,” said head coach Brian Flynn.
Flynn, Berrington and the rest of the women’s and men’s cross country teams’ first invitational is set for August 31 where they take on cross town rivals, the Eastern Mennonite Royals, in Harrisonburg.
