Box Score KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Bridgewater College softball team erased a 5-0 deficit with three runs in the top of the sixth and three more in the seventh to rally past DeSales, 6-5, Monday afternoon.
With one out in the sixth, Mikalia Guard doubled to rightfield. Anna Patterson reached in an error before Carlita Tibbs singled up the middle to score Guard with the Eagles' first run. After Lacey Shifflett popped out to short, Stephanie Carroll ripped a two-run double to left to pull the Eagles to within 5-3.
With one out in the seventh, Lindsey Talley started the winning rally with a single through the left side. Victoria Gontarz flied out for the second out, but Guard kept the Eagles alive with a single. Patterson then laced a double, chasing home Guard and Talley to tie the score at 5-5. Tibbs then came through with a clutch single to center, scoring Patterson with the go-ahead run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Carolyn Campbell gave up a two-out single to Shannon McCann, but the struck out Katie Bearn to preserve the 6-5 victory for the Eagles.
The Eagles finished the contest with 10 hits with six of the hits coming in the final two innings. Talley, Guard and Tibbs contributed two hits each to the attack. Campbell went the distance on the mound to pick up the victory.
Bridgewater is now 2-4 overall and 2-2 on its Spring Break trip to Florida.
