Emerson Edges Eagles In Pitcher's Duel, 3-0

Box Score

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Bridgewater College came out on the short end of a pitcher's duel Monday as the Eagles fell to Emerson 3-0.

Bridgewater's Anna Patterson took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but Emerson scored three unearned runs in the inning to take the victory.

The Lions used a base hit, two errors, a walk, a passed ball and a wild pitch to manufacture their three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Emerson's Molly Goldstein led off the sixth with a walk and Marisa DeFranco followed with a single, the only hit of the game for the Lions. Alena Jones then advanced the runners to second and third with a sacrifice bunt. Maddie Tomich, pinch-running for Goldstein, scored on a passed ball for a 1-0 Emerson lead. Two Bridgewater errors led to two more unearned runs, giving the Lions a 3-0 lead.

Emerson pitcher Neely Eddleston finished the game with a two-hit shutout. Stephanie Carroll had both hits for the Eagles, a double to center in the fifth inning and a two-out single in the seventh.

The Eagles advanced a runner to third base twice, but each time Eddleston stranded the runner.
