BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swim team defeated Ferrum with a score of 169-10, and Alderson Broaddus with a score of 169-57 in their opening meet on Friday evening.
The men's 400 medley relay record of 4:24.53 was beaten by four seconds. Richy Romero, Luke Wintersgill, Benjamin Dillon and Jack Cataneo teamed up to break the record with a 4:20.06.
200 freestyle relay was won by Bridgewater as well, where Wintersgill, Eric Wilbur, Cataneo and Parker Davis teamed up for a 1:49.13.
Travis McCauley broke his own record in the 50 freestyle, clocking in at a time of 24.79, with his previous record being 25.27.
Wilbur won the 50 breaststroke (33.38) followed by teammate Cataneo closely behind him in second with a (33.56). Romero was victorious in the 100 butterfly (1:05.07).
Wintersgill won the 100 IM with a time of 1:06.14 followed by teammates Ryan Cunningham and Cataneo in second and third.
The Eagles are back in action on Oct. 9 when they travel to Washington & Lee University for the ODAC Relays. Action will begin at noon.
