BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swim team was defeated by Southern Virginia, 72-127, on Saturday evening.
Bridgewater placed second in both the 200- and 400-yard relays. Cullen Beach, Luke Wintersgill, Benjamin Dillon and Jack Cataneo teamed up for a second-place finish in the 200 (1:43.90). In the 400, Ryan Cunningham, Thomas Rose, Ean Helmlinger and Travis McCauley finished second clocking in at 3:24.42.
Individually, Helmlinger continued his dominance in distance events, winning the 1000 yard free (10:27.01), and 500 yard free (5:06.58).
McCauley won the 50 yard free (22.43) and Cunningham won the 100 yard butterfly (57.11).
Bridgewater will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 22, at Virginia Wesleyan for conference action beginning at 1:00 p.m.
