BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team opened it's fall season on Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 loss to Southern Virginia.
In doubles action,
Chase Pullin and
Matthew Leonard teamed up at the top spot and fell 0-8.
Mark Gordon and
Gabe Elder returned to the No. 2 spot to start the fall and fell 3-8 to SVU.
Noah Hughes and
Bryce Cline teamed up at the No. 3 slot and battled but fell 2-8.
Heading into singles action BC faced a tall order after dropping all three doubles points. Pullin fell to a former NCAA Quarterfinalist Marcos Dias 1-6, 0-6 at the top spot. Leonard stepped in the No. 2 spot and met the same fate falling 0-6, 1-6. Gordon filled in the third slot and dropped his match 0-6, 2-6. Cline stepped into the No. 4 spot and fell 0-6, 1-6. Hughes dropped his match 1-6, 0-6 at the No. 5 spot.
Ryan Briggman made his collegiate debut at the No.6 spot and did not get a game despite his efforts falling 0-6, 0-6.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday Sep. 17 at the Randolph-Macon Invitational as the final tune up before the ITA Southeast Regional to round out the fall season.
