HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Bridgewater College women's tennis team fell to Wartburg 8-1 on Wednesday morning.
The Knights opened the match by taking the three doubles points.
Emily Daigneault and
Emily Wylie battled at the No. 3 spot but ultimately fell 4-8.
In singles action
Grace Knighton dropped the opening set at the No. 4 slot 2-6 but battled back in the second set falling 4-6. Wylie did much of the same at the No. 6 spot after dropping the opening set 3-6. The junior crawled back in the match and took the second set 6-4 but dropped the match tiebreak 11-9.
Ryan Roeber muscled out a win at the No. 5 spot. The junior dropped the opening set 3-6 but got the late service break in the second, taking it 7-5. In the match tiebreak, Roeber prevailed 10-8 to take the victory.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday against Division II powerhouse Tiffin.
