BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over Ferrum on Thursday afternoon.

The Eagles opened the match by dropping just three games in doubles action. At the top spot, Mark Gordon and Gabe Elder teamed up for an 8-0 victory. Matthew Leonard and Noah Hughes grabbed an 8-1 win at the No. 2 slot, while Bryce Cline and Ryan Briggman triumphed 8-2 at the No. 3 slot.

In singles action, Hughes was off the court first with a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory on court five. Gordon followed suit at the No. 3 spot as he came off the court next, clinching the match 6-0, 6-2.

Cline and Nicholas Arnold grabbed victories at the No. 4 and No. 6 slots respectively to further the cause.

Leonard stormed out in front taking the opening set 6-0 but faced some adversity falling behind an early service break in the second set. The sophomore weathered the storm and got the late break of serve to take the set and the match 7-5.

Elder closed the action out at the top spot. The junior grabbed the opening set 6-2 but Gabriel Alvarez hung around as the pair traded service breaks through much of the second set. Elder held at 6-5 to put the pressure on Alvarez and got the late service break to take the set and the match 7-5.
