YORK, Pa. - The Bridgewater College swimming teams started out day one at the Spartan Splash Invitational with impressive performances and record-breaking marks Friday.
The men's swimming team took on the first day of competition making a huge splash in the three-day meet. 14 individuals qualified for finals advancing past the preliminary session.
The Eagles would hold first place with a point total of 250 points.
Sophomore Zachary Erb stormed by in the 200 individual medley A final setting a record and getting an NCAA B cut with an invited time of 1:48.95. The Eagles wound up sweeping in the event with Kris Shultz (2:00.15) and Alex Bae (2:00.61) taking second and third, respectively.
Sophomore Connor Cayer would break the 50 freestyle program record setting a new best time of 20.55 in the prelims.
Freshman Alessandro Nani won the 500 free with a 4:46.73 time. Also winning in their event would be junior Jeffrey Prevost as Prevost placed first in the B final of the 200 IM with a 2:02.61 time.
Standing atop the leaderboard in the 50 butterfly would be junior Ben Beaudoin with a time of 21.59 and securing the best time in the B final.
In the relays, the Eagles took a first-place result in the 400 medley relay with a 3:26.58 time.
Bridgewater continues action in York, Pa., for day two beginning at 11 a.m.
