GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team closed out the preliminary round on Saturday afternoon.
Andrea Cibrario started the day with the second fastest qualifying time in the 200-yard backstroke registering a time of 1:54.39.
Jose Urdaneta will also advance to the finals after placing 15
th in the event.
Connor Cayer finished earned the fourth best time of 46.16 in the 100-yard fly. The finals will also see
Travis McCauley (46.67) and
Thomas Rose (48.80) take part in the event.
Zachary Erb clocked a 2:04.84 finish in the 200-yard breaststroke to claim the number one time in the preliminary round while
Kris Schultz was featured the third best time at 2:06.71.
Luke Wintersgill finished the event clocking a 2:08.94 to advance to the finals.
Tommy Ronayne will move on to finals after finishing with a time of 1:55.99 in the 200-yard fly and will be accompanied by Urdaneta who claimed the 16
th fastest time.
Ean Helmlinger grabbed 10th in the 1650-yard freestyle after touching the wall at the 16:45.44 mark.
Cibrario claimed Second Team All-ODAC after placing third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.76. Urdaneta clocked a 2:04.42 finish in the event to place 15th.
Cayer and McCauley finished fifth and sixth, respectively, after earning times of 45.75 and 46.60.
Erb won the 200-yard breaststroke after notching a 2:02.46 finish while Schultz picked up a Third Team All-ODAC selection placing fifth in the event with a time of 2:06.25. Wintersgill took sixth in the event with a being clocked at the 2:07.45 mark.
Ronayne finished fifth in the 200-yard fly after a time of 1:54.72 was recorded.
The Eagles took home second in the 400-yard freestyle relay after the team of McCauley, Erb, Cibrario and Cayer finished at the 3:04.81 mark.
Both Erb and Wintersgill were awarded special awards at the events conclusion. Erb, a freshman, was deemed the ODAC Rookie of the Meet after a stellar four-day performance. Wintersgill was awarded the Bonnie Kestner Sportsmanship award.
Jonathan Taylor was given this award during the 2022 ODAC Swimming Championships.
BC finished in fourth place garnering a total of 491 points. Washington and Lee took home the title with 942 points, Lynchburg followed with 529, Roanoke captured third with 512 points, Bridgewater (491) and Randolph-Macon in fifth with 281 points
