BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to Shenandoah 5-0 in a rain-shortened affair.
Bridgewater was kept off the scoreboard in doubles action, but not without some resistance.
Bryce Cline and
Corey Beshoar fell behind early, but a rally late came up just short as the No. 3 duo for BC fell 5-8.
Noah Hughes and
Matthew Leonard fell behind 0-5 early before a late rally at the No. 2 spot saw them fall 3-8.
The Hornets locked up the match with a pair of quick wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Leonard was still grinding away despite the match score as he was locked in a battle in the opening set as neither he nor his opponent could hold serve. Leonard had three set points but was unable to convert as he dropped the opening frame 5-7 before falling behind 0-3 in the second before the rain came.
The Eagles have a quick turnaround as they are scheduled to head to Ferrum for a clash with the Panthers tomorrow at 4 p.m.
