BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 sweep of Ferrum on Friday evening on Senior Day.
The program honored it's three graduating players,
Emma Nesselrodt,
Emily Wylie and
Ryan Roeber, prior to the start of the match.
BC hopped in front early thanks to a 20-minute 8-0 victory by
Raea Crabill and
Emma Staton at the No. 3 spot. The senior duo of Wylie and Roeber picked up an 8-1 victory at No. 2, while Nesselrodt and
Jolexie Whetzel earned an 8-2 win at the top spot to make it 3-0 after doubles.Â
Four different Eagles made quick work in singles play as Nesselrodt, Roeber, Whetzel and Crabill al waltzed their ways to 6-0, 6-0 victories at the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 spots. Staton was next off with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 slot. Wylie wrapped up the sweep in impressive fashion at the No. 2 spot. The senior was in a tight opening set before roaring ahead and winning the final nine games on the way to a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
The Eagles wrap up the regular season with a 9-9 overall record and a 4-6 mark in ODAC play. As of now the Eagle sit in a spot in the ODAC Tournament, but will await the conclusion of the regular season across the conference.
