GREENSBORO, N.C. - Bridgewater College men's swimming competed at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in the ODAC swimming championships for day two action Thursday.
In the preliminary session, Zachary Erb locked in a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:50.02 positioning him well for the finals. That preliminary time marked a conference championship record.
Ean Helmlinger placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle clocking a 4:42.76 time and advancing to the finals.
Christian Carroll and Connor Cayer both secured fast enough times to advance to the finals in the 50 Free, as Carroll had a 20.64 time and Cayer had a 20.82 time.
In the finals session, Erb powered through to reset his own ODAC championship record in the 200 IM and established an NCAA B Cut with a top-time of 1:48.13. That mark qualifies him for All-ODAC First Team recognition.
Then, Bridgewater took silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Christian Carroll, Ean Helmlinger, Zachary Erb, Connor Cayer) with a finals time of 1:22.49.
Carroll nailed a bronze finish in the 50-yard freestyle finals with a time of 20.59. That time qualifies Carroll for All-ODAC Second Team recognition.
To round out day two, Bridgewater took bronze in the 400 medley relay (Christian Carroll, Zachary Erb, Andrea Cibrario, Connor Cayer) with a time of 3:19.35. The Eagles wrap up the day in fourth in the total points scored standings with 164 points.
The men continue tomorrow, Feb. 14 with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m. Stay updated with results throughout the championship meet on the website.
