BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell 1-6 to Roanoke on Sunday with battles all over the ladder.

The Maroons took the doubles point with relatively fast victories at the bottom two spots, but Corey beshoar and Matthew Leonard took their match at the top spot at a 6-4 scoreline.

Leonard and Mark Gordon highlighted the first flight of singles matches on court. Leonard took the opening set at the top spot 6-3, but dropped the second 3-6 to send the match to a third set. The Maroons proved to be a tough out taking the decider 0-6. Gordon's match at the No. 3 spot looked very similar as he too the opening set 7-5 and dropped the second 5-7 to send the match to a third set. The senior dropped his decider 1-6. 

Coree Nicely got the Eagles on the board with the last match on court at the No. 6 spot. Nicely got the opening set 6-4 after a few chances at taking the opening stanza. The junior then fended off set points to force a tiebreak in the second set and converted on his third match point to take the breaker 7-6 (6). 

The Eagles are back in action on Friday, April 4 as they host Hampden-Sydney at 3 p.m.
