HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team picked up its first win of the spring season and its first victory under head coach
Tyler Carnahan on Friday 4-3 over Buena Vista.
The Eagles opened up by clinching the doubles point. BC lost at No. 3, but a 6-4 victory by
Mark Gordon and
Eli Morela at the No. 2 kept hopes alive.
Matthew Leonard and
Corey Beshoar clinched the doubles point for BC with a 6-4 win at the top spot, putting the Eagles in front 1-0.
Beshoar was first off in singles play as he rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot and
Matthew Leonard followed suit with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the top spot. BVU picked up a win at No. 3, but a tough performance by Morela at the No. 5 spot clinched the victory with a 6-4, 6-1 victory with two matches still on court.Â
The Eagles return home to take on a tough Averett squad on Tuesday.Â
