FERRUM, Va. - The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced Thursday afternoon Bridgewater College women's track & field athletes; Abby Mikolay, Taylor Myers, and Summer Wallace to VaSID All-State Selection Teams.
Abby Mikolay carried out a strong season earning a spot on the All-State First Team. In addition to this accolade, the Waynesboro, Va., native received All-Region and All-ODAC First Team honors. Mikolay went all the way at ODACs claiming the event title in discus with a mark of 44.89m (second-best in south region). The junior also put up the fourth-best mark regionally in shot put with a mark of 12.78m.
Taylor Myers tore up the track in her first year season and secured All-State Second Team honors. The Rockingham, Va., native added to her collection with All-Region and All-ODAC Second Team accolades. The distance runner earned ODAC Rookie of the Meet at the conference championships along with establishing a school record in the 10,000m at the hosted Doc Jopson Invitational. Myers finished the season with the second-fastest time in the region at 36:52.27.
Summer Wallace rounded out the All-State honorees with a Second Team All-State selection. Wallace also received All-Region and All-ODAC Third Team honors. The Staunton, Va. Native nailed a 5.33m result at ODACs for a third-place finish. The jumper finished with the fifth-best mark regionally leaping 5.51m.
Mikolay has earned her second-straight All-State honor and Myers and Wallace received their first ever recognition.
