  • The Cougars got their first hit of the contest to open the third frame, while a walk and an error loaded the bases for the visitors. Cauthorn regrouped as she induced a pop up and a diving catch by Ramsey as she slid into the left-field fence in foul ground to get out of the jam. AU had another chance to strike in the top of the fourth, but a squeeze play was foiled by Cauthorn as she fielded a bunt perfectly and flipped it to Skyler Buzbee for the out at the plate.
  • Bridgewater added to the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Malandra opened the frame with a walk and stole second. Averett got two quick outs, but the Eagles were unphased as Lily Moyers singled back up the middle to drive in Malandra and make it 2-0. Leiah Branch reached on an error to extend the frame and Abby Byrum followed with a single up the middle again to make it 3-0 as the lead runner came around to score.
  • Averett left the bases loaded in the top of the sixth after a pair of infield pop ups and the Eagles pounced. Andrea Savage opened the frame with a single and was pinch ran for by Brianna Petrolia immediately. Averett got two quick outs again, but Baldwin extended the inning as she reached on an infield hit and Petrolia moved to third. McKenna Mueller dug in next and delivered with a two-run single to swell the lead to 5-0.
