Eagles Battle Past Randolph-Macon on Senior Day

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team battled to a 6-1 victory on senior day over Randolph-Macon.

The Eagles opened by taking the doubles point commandingly. Corey Beshoar and Eli Entsminger were first off the court with a 6-2 victory at the top spot. Coree Nicely and Steven Perry locked up the point for the Eagles as they finished just seconds after with a 6-2 win at No.3.

Ahead 1-0, Beshoar extended the team's lead convincingly at the top spot. The junior rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the top spot to make it 2-0. The Yellow Jackets picked up a win at No. 2, despite an outstanding effort by Perry in the second set as he fell 0-6, 5-7. BC got back on the board as Levi Waidelich rolled at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory to make it 3-1.

The Eagles had three matches still in play and needed just one of them to secure the team win. Nicely came through on senior day for the Eagles at No. 5. He rolled in the opening set and overcame an early service break in the second as his 6-1, 6-3 victory clinched BC's first ODAC win under head coach Noah Hughes. Bridgewater wasn't done there as Logan Garner added to the win as he capped off a 2:46 instant classic at the No. 3 spot with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(4) victory at the No. 3 spot. Entsminger finished off the action as he overcame some late pressure to win 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4 to secure the 6-1 team victory.

BC concludes the campaign on Saturday against Shenandoah at home.
