Eagles Ninth In Preseason Baseball Poll

Andrew returns as one of the leaders of the pitching staff in 2019.

FOREST, Va. – The Bridgewater College baseball team was picked ninth in the ODAC Preseason Coaches' poll released Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles are coming off a 19-20-1 2018 season that ended with a loss to NCAA tournament team Randolph-Macon in the first round of the ODAC tournament.

Bridgewater returns two All-ODAC third team performers – pitcher Chad Lenz and designated hitter Cameron Stanley – to lead the way in 2019.

The Eagles also return position players Jacob Talley (SS), Brett Jones (1B/OF), Luke Paczewski (IF), Kevin Navedo (2B) and Jacob Grabeel (OF) for the 2019 campaign.

On the mound Andrew Berry returns as a weekend starter along with Lenz. Tristan Daywalt and Kyle Hasforth, both seniors, also return and should see significant time on the mound. Sophomore closer Ryan Skadra is back after a strong first year in the program.

Randolph-Macon is the preseason favorite. The Yellow Jackets won their regional and advanced to the final eight of the Division III tournament where they won two games. 2018 conference champion Shenandoah is the No. 2 pick in the preseason rankings.

The Eagles open their season next Tuesday at Averett.
