Derrik Walling begins his third season as an assistant coach on the Bridgewater College baseball staff. Walling will work with the outfielders and hitters during the upcoming season.
Walling played baseball four years while a student-athlete at Bridgewater. He had 148 career hits in 152 games and finished his four seasons with a .286 batting average.
Walling was a member of the record-setting 2014 Eagles team that established a program record for wins in a season with a 36-14 mark. That team advanced to the finals of the NCAA Division III South Region where the Eagles lost to Emory in the title game.
Walling has spent two summers as an assistant coach in the Valley Baseball League, working one summer with the Waynesboro Generals and one summer with Harrisonburg Turks.
