LEXINGTON, Va. - The Bridgewater College riders placed third Thursday afternoon at the ODAC Equestrian Championship Show hosted at the Virginia Horse Center.
Sweet Briar placed first in all three classes to win the title with 21 points. Washington and Lee placed second with 14 points, followed by the Eagles with nine points.
Bridgewater had a tough round in the first class over fences as the Eagles placed sixth out of the six competing teams.
The Eagles bounced back with a strong showing in the second round over fences, placing third just behind W&L.
Bridgewater closed out the event by placing third on the flat to secure the third-place overall team finish.
Two Bridgewater riders - Zellie Wothers and Emily Manos - earned All-ODAC recognition by finishing in the Top 10 riders in the two rounds over fences. Wothers ranked fifth with an average score of 79.985 in two rounds over fences and Manos ranked No. 10 with a 77.5 average. Also competing Thursday for the Eagles were Michaela Bragg and Kaitlan Parker.
Sweet Briar's Mikayla Benjamin swept the ODAC Rider of the Year and ODAC Freshman of the Year honors. Sweet Briar's Mimi Wroten was named ODAC Coach of the Year While W&L's Ashley Ooms was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
