CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Bridgewater College equestrian team had a strong performance Sunday  at the Zone 4 Region 2 IHSA Individual Regional Championship hosted by The University of Virginia.

Bridgewater had 10 riders qualified for regionals and four riders individually qualified for the Zone 4 Championship show to be held at UVA on April 6. In order for riders to progress from Regionals to Zones, they must place first or second in their class. The same is true for qualifying from Zones to the National Championship in Syracuse, N. Y. the first week in May.

Hannah Foster started off the day winning her advanced walk-trot-canter class, qualifying her for zones.  The Bridgewater riders dominated the Novice flat class with Georgia Osborne, Laurin Watts, and Isabel Ammendolia taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  Osborne and Watts will be moving on to zones.

Osborne put in a beautiful round in Novice Over Fences and Watts received fourth place in Novice Over Fences.

Caroline Shipe placed second in Intermediate Over Fences which qualified her for zones.

Michael Golinowski competed on the flat and then over fences where he earned third place in a very competitive field. Golinopwski also received fourth-place overall in the region with end of year points for the Cacchione Cup Qualifier.  The Cacchione Cup is a medal championship division combining flat and fences points.
