UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Bridgewater College freshman Michael Golinowski was named the winner Friday at the inaugural IHSA Metropolitan Equitation Invitational hosted by Longines Masters of New York. The event was held at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Coliseum and features three days of world-class equestrian competition, culminating with the famed Longines Grand Prix on Sunday.
A total of 25 riders were invited to compete in the first-ever IHSA Metropolitan Invitational. The 25 riders were matched with unfamiliar mounts by random draw and competed over a jumping course.
The riders were judged on effectiveness, style and form. Following the jumping round, the top 12 riders were invited back for the flat phase where they once again were paired with a new horse loaned specifically for the event.
The riders were judged by grand prix rider Brianne Goutal-Marteau.
