BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Silver Anniversary Team defensive line features four players who combined for eight All-ODAC first-team mentions.
Stagg Bowl teammates Jason Frizzelle and Ryan Bailey headline the defensive line group that also includes Lawrence Frierson and Chuck Brown.
Frizzelle anchored the interior of the line at defensive tackle, earning first-team All-ODAC honors in 2000, 2001 and 2002. He was named the 2001 State Defensive Lineman of the Year by the Richmond TD Club. Frizzelle ranks No. 5 all-time at Bridgewater in TFL (tackles-for-loss) with 34.
Bailey was a terror off the edge, earning all-conference recognition at defensive end for four straight years. He was a first-team All-ODAC pick in 2000 and 2002 and a second-team selection in 1999 and 2001. He was named to the 2002 Football Gazette All-America third team. Bailey holds Bridgewater career records with 71 TFL and 32.5 quarterback sacks.
Frierson played for the Eagles from 2001-04. He was a first-team All-ODAC pick in both 2003 and 2004 and was the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2004. In 2004, he was also named the State Defensive Lineman of the Year by the Richmond TD Club and the State Defensive Player of the Year by The Roanoke Times.
Brown was a four-year letter-winner from 2002-05 and was a 2005 All-ODAC first-team selection.
The 2019 football season will be the 25th year with Michael Clark as the program's head coach. In recognition of Coach Clark's Silver Anniversary, Bridgewater College Facebook Fans voted on a Silver Anniversary team, recognizing the top players from the Coach Clark era.
