BRIDGEWATER, Va. – A pair of All-Americans who were Stagg Bowl teammates highlight the linebacker group selected to The Silver Anniversary Team.
Lonnie Parker was a three-time All-ODAC first-team selection, earning the recognition in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In 2000, he was named the State Linebacker of the Year by the Richmond TD Club. As a senior on the 2001 Stagg Bowl team, Parker was named to the Associated Press Little All-America second team.
Parker holds the Bridgewater College career record for fumble recoveries with 10 and he returned three for touchdowns, also a career record. He ranks No. 4 in career tackles in the Eagles' record book.
Jermaine Taylor was a three-time All-ODAC selection. He was named to the second team in 2001 before moving up to the first team in 2002 and 2003. He was named the ODAC Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
Taylor was named the State Linebacker of the Year by the Richmond TD Club for both the 2002 and 2003 seasons along with being named the State Defensive Player of the Year by The Roanoke Times for both years. In 2002, Taylor was named to the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) All-America first team. In 2003 Taylor was a consensus first-team All-American, earning the honor from four different organizations.
Taylor is the Bridgewater College all-time leader in tackles with 447 and ranks in the top five all-time in both quarterback sacks and tackles-for-loss.
Taylor was inducted into the Bridgewater College Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 2018 induction class. He was also selected to D3football.com's All-Decade first team.
TJ Montague rounds out the linebacker group on The Silver Anniversary Team. Montague was a 2008 All-ODAC second-team pick before earning first-team All-ODAC honors during the 2010 season.
The 2019 football season will be the 25th year with Michael Clark as the program's head coach. In recognition of Coach Clark's Silver Anniversary, Bridgewater College Facebook Fans voted on a Silver Anniversary team, recognizing the top players from the Coach Clark era.
