BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team couldn't find a fourth quarter goal in a 2-1 home loss to Juniata.
Trailing 2-1 heading into the fourth, the Eagles had a pair of corners and put three shots on target (without allowing a shot on goal), but all three were turned away by Nicole Piccioni.
Courtney Cooke had tied the game at 1-1 off Georgia Howard's assist on a penalty corner play.
After Juniata made it 2-1 in the third quarter on Catherine Lanigan's second goal of the contest, the Eagles controlled the final period.
Piccioni stuffed Georgia Howard twice off a penalty corner, and then saved a shot from Allison Thompson.
The Eagles immediately earned another corner, but couldn't get another shot on target, and Juniata held off Bridgewater the rest of the way.
Bridgewater (0-5) will play at home again this weekend, Sunday at 1 p.m. vs. Kean University.
