BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College field hockey program is holding a "Play4TheCure" fundraiser in conjuction with their Homecoming Weekend game vs. Ferrum.

Play4TheCure is the sport fundraising program for the National Foundation for Cancer Research which provides funding worldwide to the best scientists to enable cutting edge research that other large cancer organizations can't and won't fund. Play4TheCure inspires athletes and their teams to leverage their passion for sports to "Play4" loved ones affected by cancer and encourages them to actively participate in working to fund cancer research to make a difference.

The Eagles will be collecting donations at their October 18 game vs. Ferrum (6 PM), but fans can also donate online at:

Bridgewater has set a fundraising goal of $1,000 towards the program that helps early cancer research and allows scientists to carry out a comprehensive genome-wide analysis on all genes in one tumor sample, for developing targeted and personalized cancer therapies.

The Eagles would like to thank everyone for their support.
