Men's Hoops Ends Regular Season With Loss At Roanoke

SALEM, Va. - Bridgewater College ended the regular season with an 81-64 ODAC loss Saturday afternoon at Roanoke College. The Eagles finish the regular season with a 12-13 overall record and a 7-9 ODAC mark.

TJ Turner and Ken Stanciel came off the bench to lead the Eagles in scoring Saturday. Turner paced the Eagles with 16 points as he made 4-of-9 shots from 3-point range. Stancciel added 13 points and led the Eagles in rebounds with nine. Dimetri Chambers was the only starter in double digits with 11 points.

Bridgewater held Josh Freund, the ODAC's leading scorer to 10 points, but four of his teammates picked up the slack with double-figure efforts. Joe Mikalauskas led the Maroons with 21 points and Tripp Greene came off the bench to add 20. Dillon Thomas scored 13 points and C.J. Miles chipped in with 12.

Chambers hit a 3-pointer to put the Eagles up 3-2, but the Maroons reeled off the next nine points to take the lead for good. Mikalauskas scored inside and Thomas hit a 3-pointer for a 7-3 Roanoke lead. Jumpers by Freund and Greene pushed the advantage to 11-3 with 15:08 left in the first half.

The Maroons' lead reached 15 points at the midway mark when Nick Price scored inside, making the score 26-11.

Roanoke led 32-14 on two foul shots by Mikalauskas, but the Eagles scored the next seven points, all by Stanciel, to trim the margin to 11, 32-21, with five minutes remaining in the half.

Roanoke answered with an 8-0 run to take its biggest lead of the first half, 40-21. Grier and Stanciel scored buckets for the Eagles to cut the deficit to 40-25 at the half.

The Eagles were unable to mount a rally following the break as Roanoke maintained a comfortable double-digit lead over the final 20 minutes.
