Blue Hens Pull Away From Eagles

NEWARK, Del. - Delaware shot 66.7 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 55-26 lead over Bridgewater and the Blue Hens went on to defeat the Eagles 97-51 Tuesday night in an exhibition game at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Eagles stayed within striking distance early as 3-pointers by Chandler Murray, TJ Turner and Kellen Hodge had the Eagles within 16-9. The Eagles connected on 6-of-15 (40 percent) of their 3-point shots in the opening half.

The Division I Blue Hens used their size inside to control the boards by a 22-10 margin in the first half and steadily pulled away. Guard Ryan Allen hit 5-of-6 3-pointers and scored 16 points in the first half to pace the Delaware offense.

Turner and Murray each finished with 10 points to lead the Eagles and Davrion Grier added nine. Freshman Jalil Langston had a solid debut with eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Justyn Mutts paced the Blue Hens with 23 points and Allen added 21.

The Eagles will play another exhibition game agaisnt Division I Radford University on Nov. 12.
