SALEM, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team couldn't put a faceoff advantage to good use against #18 Roanoke, falling 25-4 on Wednesday night.

The faceoff battle did not reflect the scoreline, as Bridgewater held a 21-9 edge in that category. They couldn't capitalize on those opportunities however, going 6-for-16 on clears and turning the ball over 26 times.

Mason Gauntt won 15-of-19 faceoffs and picked up seven ground balls, while William Spinnler was 6-of-10 with two ground balls.

The first quarter was competitive, with Blake Mann's goal with 1:12 left making it 3-1 Roanoke.

Bridgewater won the ensuing faceoff and had a chance to make it a one-goal game, but RC goalie Ian Davis recorded his fifth save of the opening quarter to deny Sean MacLeish.

Garrett Schwarz struck for Roanoke one second before the horn at the end of the first. Things then got out of hand in a second period that featured 10 goals for the Maroons.

Matthew Lintner's goal with 9:05 remaining pushed the Roanoke run to 20 unanswered.

Mann had a hand in the next three goals, scoring twice and then assisting freshman Jake Pangle.

Roanoke got hat tricks from five different players- Brendan Devane, Wyatt Naylor, Jason Sarro, Lintner and Schwarz.

Bridgewater is 8-6, 2-5 ODAC with two conference games remaining. The Eagles travel to Shenandoah on Saturday for a massive conference showdown, where a playoff spot could ultimately be on the line.
