Men's Soccer Blanks Wasps, 4-0

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater College improved to 2-0 in the ODAC with a 4-0 victory Saturday over Emory & Henry.

The Eagles missed several scoring opportunities early before finally finding the back of the net in the 28th minute. Nick Benjamin chased down a ball near the end line and sent a cross into the box. The pass glanced off  Eric Hogge and Thomas White possessed the loose ball and placed his shot inside the near post to put Bridgewater on top 1-0.

Bridgewater added its second goal in the 33rd minute. Sam Beckman sent a ball into the box that was headed out by a Wasps defender. The ball bounced to Eagles' senior Jonathan Min and Min took one touch and blasted a shot from deep that whistled past the keeper to make the score 2-0.

The Eagles added two more goals in the second half to finish off the victory.

White scored his second goal of the day and his seventh of the season to make it 3-0. The Wasps were whistled for a foul just outside the box on the left side. Leo Alcantara took the free kick and his pass into the box was headed into the back of the net by White for the score.

Bridgewater scored its final goal off of another free kick. Alcantara's kick bounced off a defender and headed toward the end line. Caleb Needle possessed the ball, turned past a defender and slid a pass across the box where Jacob Heiston touched the ball past the keeper for the final 4-0 margin.

Quentin Boric and Charles Francillon combined for the shutout in goal. Each Eagles' keeper finished with one save.

Bridgewater, now 5-3 overall, is back in action Wednesday when the Eagles make the long road trip to Virginia Wesleyan.
