SALEM, Va. - Roanoke College scored in the 84th minute Wednesday evening to take a 1-0 victory over Bridgewater on the final day of the men's soccer regular season.
The contest was a defensive struggle from the opening minutes. The Eagles held a slim 5-4 edge in shots in the opening half, including a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal. Roanoke had the edge in corner kicks by a 6-1 margin in the first half.
Bridgewater's offense could not get untracked in the second half as the Eagles attempted just one shot. Roanoke had six shots in the second half, including four on goal, while adding four more corner kick opportunities.
The contest remained scoreless until the Maroons found the back of the net in the closing minutes. Roanoke's Liam Camilleri took a pass from Atticus Cooke and put his shot into the right side of the net for the game's only goal.
Bridgewater goalkeeper Quentin Boric finished the contest with five saves. Roanoke's Alex Sullivan played the first half and recorded four saves. Zach Behe took over in goal in the second half and picked up the victory.
Bridgewater finishes the regular season with a 9-6-1 overall record and a 6-3-1 mark in the ODAC.
