Eagles Will Host Ferrum In ODAC First-Round Matchup

Eagles host Ferrum in 1st round of ODAC tournament

FOREST, Va. - The ODAC office has announced the pairings for the 2018 Men's Soccer Tournament and Bridgewater, the No. 3 seed, will host No. 6 Ferrum in a first-round matchup Sunday afternoon. Game time is tentatively set for 2:00 p.m.

Bridgewater closed out the regular season Wednesday evening with a tough 1-0 loss at Roanoke to finish with a 9-6-1 overall record and a 7-1-1 mark in conference play heading into the tournament. The No. 3 tournament seed is the best in program history.

Bridgewater and Ferrum met during the regular season with the Eagles taking a 2-1 victory on the Panthers' home field.

Four teams - Randolph, Randolph-Macon, Virginia Wesleyan and Hampden-Sydney - finished the season with identical 4-5-1 conference records to tie for spots 6-10 in the standings. Only three of the four qualified for the tournament and, after going through the tiebreaker scenarios, Hampden-Sydney was the odd team out. Randolph finished with the best position as the No. 7 seed in the tournament. Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon received the final two slots in the tournament field and will meet in the 8-9 play-in game on Friday at Virginia Wesleyan.

Washington and Lee earned the top seed for the tournament with a 9-0-1 conference record and will host the winner of the play-in game in a first-round contest on Sunday.

Sunday's other first-round games feature No. 2 Lynchburg hosting No. 7 Randolph and No. 4 Roanoke hosting No. 5 Eastern Mennonite.
