White Named To All-State First Team

Thomas White has been named to the VaSID all-state first team.

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater senior forward Thomas White added another honor to his growing list of accolades as he earned a spot on the 2018 VaSID College Division All-State Men's Soccer First Team released Tuesday.

White is the first Bridgewater player to earn a spot on the All-State first team since 2012 when Kevin Gorman was named to the first team as a midfielder.

A 2018 first-team All-ODAC selection at forward and a second-team All-Region pick, White was instrumental in leading the Eagles to the program's first appearance in the ODAC Championship game. White led the Eagles in scoring during the 2018 season with 28 points on 11 goals and six assists. He finished the season ranked second in the ODAC in points, third in assists and fourth in goals scored.

The Eagles finished the 2018 season with an 11-7-1 overall record and a 6-3-1 record in conference play. The Eagles defeated nationally-ranked Lynchburg twice, including a 1-0 win in the ODAC semifinals.

Justin Carey, a senior midfielder from the University of Mary Washington earned State Player of the Year honors while Christopher Newport University freshman midfielder Tanner Dail was named the State Rookie of the Year. Mary Washington's Jason Kilby was named the State Coach of the Year.
