Eagles Set Nine School Records at Yellow Jacket Invite

ASHLAND, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team continued to set school records against a strong field at Randolph-Macon's Yellow Jacket Invitational.

The Eagles placed seventh of seven teams with 276 points but set nine school yardage records over two days.

Austin Bacon had BC's highest finish, placing 10th in the 200 fly in a school record 2:02.85.

Other school marks were set Saturday by Kevin Whalen in the 100 back (1:02.22) and 100 free (51.92) and by Benjamin Dillon in the 400 IM (5:13.18).

Bacon was also 12th in the 100 fly, with a time of 56.77.

Tito Alcazar placed 19th in the 100 breast (1:11.86) and 20th in the 200 breast (2:46.62). Ben Williams was 18th in the 1650 free with a time of 24:03.21, and Raphael Stanek was 26th in the 200 free in 2:14.78.

In Saturday's relays, Dillon, Jarratt Davis, Bobby Grossman and Stanek were 10th in the 800 free relay (9:18.58), and Whalen, Bacon, Davis and Williams finished 11th in the 400 free relay (3:45.19).

Bridgewater had also set five school records on Friday evening, including more individual marks by the rookie trio of Bacon (500 free, 5:00.04), Dillon (200 IM, 2:23.05) and Whalen (50 free, 23.15).

The Eagles set relay school records on Friday in the 200 free relay (Dillon, Stanek, Bacon, Whalen in 1:36.07) and 400 medley relay (Dillon, Alcazar, Bacon, Whalen in 4:08.96).

The Eagles will be back in action at home on January 11 vs. Roanoke.
