Men's Swim Gets First Win in First Home Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team got its first victory of the season in the Eagles' first home meet of the year, defeating Gallaudet 137-94.

The Eagles set four school records, including two by Austin Bacon- who smashed the school meter marks in the 800 free (9:29.48) and 400 free (4:37.00).

Sean Cunningham set a school record of 2:06.16 in the 200 meter free, breaking a mark his brother Ryan Cunningham had set last week. Ryan did get a new school record of his own today, in the 100 free (58.98).

S. Cunningham finished with three individual event wins after also claiming the 50 breast (36.78) and 50 free (28.43). R. Cunningham added a second win in the 50 fly (29.06).

Bacon added a third individual victory with a time of 1:09.07 in the 100 back.

Dylan Shannon (50 back, 32.21) and Benjamin Dillon (100 fly, 1:11.39) also won individual races on the day.

Bacon, S. Cunningham, Dillon and Ben Williams opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 2:08.75. Bacon, R. Cunningham, Shannon and S. Cunningham closed it with a victory in the 200 free relay (1:50.84).

The Eagles (1-4) will be home the next two weekends, including a meet vs. Randolph-Macon next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
